As stated in the holy Qur’an, each prophet was tasked to approve the prophet before him and also to inform of the last prophet, who would be Muhammad -may Allah commend and salute him. The holy books, which were given to messengers declared clearly the prophethood of Muhammad -may Allah commend and salute him.

Almighty Allah declares in the holy Qur’an:

“Without doubt it is (announced) in the Scriptures of former peoples.” (Shu’ara: 196)

Allah -may His glory be exalted- informed all prophets of Muhammad -peace be upon him- and of his attributes. If they would live in Muhammad’s -peace be upon him- time period, they promised that they would believe in his religion and assist him. They informed their followers of Muhammad -peace be upon him- and obtained obedience of them.

In a holy verse of the Qur’an:

“Behold! Allah took the Covenant of the Prophets, saying: ‘I give you a Book and Wisdom; then comes to you a Messenger, confirming what is with you; do you believe in him and render him help.’ Allah said: ‘Do you agree, and take this my Covenant as binding on you?’ They said: ‘We agree.’ He said: ‘Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses.” (Al’ Imran: 81)

Muhammad’s -may Allah commend and salute him- holy names and special titles had been written in the Gospel and the Torah.

In the holy Qur’an:

“Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find mentioned in their own (Scriptures)” (A’raf: 157)

The Jews in the Torah and the Christians in the Gospel saw the last Messenger’s attributes and awaited him. Each generation mentioned him to later generations and advised them to have faith in him; therefore, both communities were eagerly awaiting his arrival. But when an orphan was chosen as the last Messenger amongst the Arabs, because of racism they denied him. However they were waiting for his arrival and knew him as their sons.

In a holy verse of the Qur’an:

“The People of the Book know this as they know their own sons, but some of them conceal the truth which they themselves know.” (Baqara: 146)

The holy Qur’an informs believers that Christian and Jewish noblemen have removed from their holy books verses informing Muhammad’s -peace be upon him- advent.

In the Torah good news were realized by the arrival of Jesus Christ -peace be upon him. Jesus -peace be upon him- approved and announced the arrival of the Messenger of Allah, Muhammad -peace be upon him-, as stated in the Torah. This was one of the tasks of Jesus -peace be upon him.

The last prophet of the Israelites, Jesus -peace be upon him-, refreshed religious life and confirmed a Messenger to come after him whose name would be Ahmad, the Messenger Muhammad -peace be upon him. Jesus, before his ascension, gave the good news to mankind and said:

“O Children of Israel! I am the Messenger of Allah (sent) to you, confirming the Law (which came) before me, and giving glad tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad.” (Saff: 6)

As Jesus -peace be upon him- proclaimed mankind that Muhammad -peace be upon him- would be the last prophet; Muhammad -peace be upon him- also informed believers that Jesus -peace be upon him- will return from the heavens and instructed his followers to obey him and told them what Jesus -peace be upon him- will do.

The Messenger of Allah Muhammad -may Allah commend and salute him- said:

“I’m the closest to the son of Mary, Jesus, in the heavens and earth. All the prophets are brothers. Like brothers of one father born from different women. Their religion is same.”

Allah’s Messenger -may Allah commend and salute him- states in his another hadith:

“By him in whose hand is the life of Muhammad, he who amongst the community of Jews or Christians hears about me but does not affirm his belief in that with which I have been sent and dies in this state of the denizens of Hell-Fire.”

This hadith is the evidence that by Allah’s Messenger’s -peace be upon him- advent all the religions have been abrogated. The decree of the hadith does not only comprise the people of Allah’s Messenger’s time but also all human beings till the Day of Resurrection. For a second prophet will not come and another book will not be sent down.

Jesus -peace be upon him- has not died. He has been lifted to the heavens. He is living bodily in the heavens. He will be coming back when the Antichrist’s sedition suffocates the Muslims. He shall return to the earth and slay him. This part has been confirmed through the holy Qur’an, Muhammad’s -peace be upon him- statements and the general confirmation of Muslim scholars.

It is obligatory in Islam to believe that Jesus -peace be upon him- has not died, he will return to the earth and will judge with Muhammad’s -peace be upon him- shariat and will struggle in the cause of Allah.

In a holy verse of the Qur’an:

“And (Jesus) shall be a sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): Therefore have no doubt about the (Hour), but follow you Me: This is a Straight Way.” (Zukhruf: 61)

One of the evident sign of Doomsday is the coming back of Jesus -peace be upon him- to the world. Allah, the Exalted, will cause him to descend from the heavens when the time nears to the end of the world. By his reappearance, it will be understood that Doomsday will be near.

“And there is none of the People of the Book but must believe in him before his death; and on the Day of Judgment he will be a witness against them.” (Nisâa: 159)

Muhammad -peace be upon him- proclaimed mankind that Jesus will return this world when the time nears to the end of the world.

Allah’s Messenger -peace be upon him- also said in his hadith about the descending of Jesus -peace be upon him:

“By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, surely the son of Mary, Jesus, will shortly descend amongst you, and will judge mankind justly, he will break the cross and kill the swine and there will be no Jizya. Money will be in abundance so that nobody will accept it.”

His breaking the cross means the claimers of the crucifixion are liars; secondly Islam is the only acceptable religion and all other religions are refuted. Allah, the Exalted, will not accept any religion but Islam.

In another hadith, Allah’s Messenger -may Allah commend and salute him- orders:

“I swear by Allah that the son of Mary will certainly descend as a just judge and would definitely break the cross and kill swine and impose the tribute and would leave the young she camel and no one would endeavor to. Spite, mutual hatred and jealously against one another will certainly disappear and when he summons people to accept wealth, not even one would do so.”

As a result of the coming future wars there will remain very few men on the earth. Because the Third World War will have ended, the Jews will have been annihilated, the Chinese will have been vanquished, Jesus -peace be upon him- will have been sent down, many event will have taken place.

That is on the earth there will be very few men but goods and wealth will be abundant. There will be treasures but no man.

The Messenger of Allah, Muhammad -may Allah commend and salute him- stated:

“A division of my community will continue to struggle till the end of the world with victory.

That time the son of Mary will come. The leader of the Muslims will say ‘Come and direct us to pray.’ But Jesus will respond; ‘No, as Almighty Allah’s gift to this community, each of you is leader to one other.”

“How will you be when the son of Mary descends amongst you although your Imam (leader) is one of you?”

“One night in my dream I saw myself near Kaaba. Then I saw a dark skinned handsome man who had long hair, the most beautiful that I had ever seen! There were water drops, dripping from his hair. He was circling KABA with two men supporting him. I asked, ‘who is this man’? They said the son of Mary, Jesus. Then after I met a man with curly hair and cross eyed (right); like his eye pops up as a grape. Asked who he was. They said that is Antichrist.”

“Enemy of Allah, Antichrist, when sees Jesus, melts like salt in water.”

Why Jesus -peace be upon him- informed the coming of Muhammad -peace be upon him? Because Allah granted Muhammad -peace be upon him- an honor never bestowed on a prophet before him.

Allah the Most High by addressing mankind informs that a Prophet has sent to them.

“Say: ‘O mankind! Now truth has reached you from your Lord.” (Yunus: 108)

Praising Muhammad -peace be upon him- with high honors, He states he is on a true path and shows a straight way.

“Yâ-Sin. By the Qur’an, full of Wisdom. You are indeed one of the Messengers, on a Straight Way.” (Yâ-Sin: 1-4)

Muhammad -peace be upon him- has a known ancestry and Allah the Most Great protected his ancestors from disbelief and polytheism.

A hadith states that;

“I have descended from the most prestigious generations starting from Adam -peace be upon him- until this present generation.”

All prophets were sent to a clan or to the people of a city or a tribe; therefore, their prophethood has become unique for their own community. But Muhammad -peace be upon him- has been sent to all humanity. Until the final day mankind is under his guidance.

“We have not sent you but as a universal (Messenger) to men, giving them glad tidings and warning them (against sin), but most men understand not.” (Saba: 28)

Other prophets were created from his light and sent to their communities and became mercies for them. But Muhammad -peace be upon him- is mercy upon all human race.

“We sent you not, but as a Mercy for all creatures.” (Anbiyaa: 107)

Muhammad’s -peace be upon him- existence is a mercy for all worlds.

He who approves that Muhammad -may Allah commend and salute him- is a gift and becomes a member of his community will have all internal, external compassion gates opened for him; he will be saved from all misery.

Upon his (Muhammad -peace be upon him-) arrival, gift of prophecy ended and Islam became the last and eternal religion. It is unthinkable that Islam will vanish or become extinct. This fundamental identity will continue without deterioration and the light of the Prophet will exist until eternity. He has brought a book that humankind needs no other than it, sent for their happiness and salvation.

He is a messenger sent to men as well as to jinns. Like men, jinns are also charged with the orders of the holy Qur’an. He had companions from men as well as from jinns.

The greatest gift of Allah the Most High to humanity is Muhammad -peace be upon him. All material and ethical, external and internal knowledge was coalesced within him.

He totally purified darkened spirits and petrified hearts from material and moral ugliness; ethical degeneration and distortions caused by unbelief and polytheism were halted by his advent.

And this will continue until the Day of Judgment.

People who are not members of his community can not attain this prosperity.

People belonging to his true path reach the essential manifestation of Allah the Most High. By following his way, one can attain highest levels of devotion.

Allah the Most High has not created a man like Muhammad -peace be upon him- from the point of view of ethical maturity.

Allah the Most High granted him all goodness, beauties and virtues.

He, as the universal prophet, displays all the best and noble qualities of humanity. No one has the same excellent virtues.

He is an exceptional example of pattern of conduct for all stages of human life.

In a holy verse of the Qur’an, it is instructed:

“You have indeed in the Messenger of Allah a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for any one whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who engages much in the praise of Allah.” (Ahzab: 21)

He was spiritually and physically the most perfect, the most beautiful of entire mankind.

Our mother Aisha -may Allah be well pleased with her- stated:

“The Messenger of Allah at each moment remembered Allah.”

He had established such a nearness with Allah the Most High that he never harmed this divine friendship in acknowledging Allah’s blessings, being patient in adversity, and being obedient to divine orders and prohibitions.

He was sincerely devoted to Allah. He ceded all his wishes and wills to the Lord. He did not request or ask anyone for anything except Allah.

He is the light of the right way; the way of Islam. He is the bridge to truth. Allah the Most High has created him as a means for His servants to reach the right way.

After his death the light of his prophethood will continue to exist until the Day of Judgment. Men embrace faith of Islam with that light.

Anyone, who wants to be a Muslim but does not approve of his prophethood, can not enter Heaven and none of his good deeds can be accepted by Allah.

Allah the Most High never withdrew His divine support from him. Wherever his light was, the divine support was there.

The miracles worked through the agency of a friend of Allah (auliya) are considered also the miracles of the Messenger of Allah -peace be upon him. These miracles are granted to the friends of Allah (auliyas) as a gift because they follow the way of the Prophet Muhammad -peace be upon him.

Allah the Most High has created him as a personified guide, leader. His blessed body is wholly light.

In His holy verse He orders like that:

“O Prophet! Truly We have sent you as a witness, a bearer of glad tidings and a warner, and as one who invites to Allah’s (Grace) by His leave and as a lamp spreading light.” (Ahzab: 45-46)

Due to this, his blessed body, his spirit, his language, his heart, his morals and acts, his knowledge and understanding were sources of light.

Allah the Most High has rendered his worth exalted and preferred him as the holiest creature over everybody and everything. He is unique among the creatures and in his exalted mission.

He has been the most honored of creatures not only at his time, but from Adam -peace be upon him- until the doomsday.

The perfect qualities of all creatures are gathered within his supreme personality.

Nobody can obtain compassion and blessing except by means of him and by following him, whether of this world or the next.

No one can fully circumscribe his true nature.

There is no need for other religions and books, he is the first and the last guide post. He is sufficient along with the book given to him and the shariah (religious laws) derived from it.

On the Judgment Day he will save Muslims from torments and cause them to attain higher degrees with his intercession. Allah the Most High will forgive sins of his people with his intercession. The innumerable favors and blessings of men in heaven will be given because of him.

The greatest happiness and virtue, the highest degree for people is to follow his way and to apply his morals to their lives.

In the holy verse it is stated:

“So it is those who believe in him, honor him, help him, and follow the Light which is sent down with him, it is they who will prosper.” (A’raf: 157)

One of the two pillars of monotheism is to believe in him. After “There is no deity but Allah” Allah has added, “Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.” He states that whoever does not believe in him can not be a Muslim. Thanks to Muhammad -peace be upon him- He causes people, who are in deviation, to reach the right way: Islam.

He, who follows him, will be safe from the difficulties of the world and the hereafter; he will receive happiness in both worlds. He will be close to Allah thus reaching truth.

Because Muhammad -peace be upon him- is the beloved of Allah the Most High; people following his way can attain the beloved rank.

He accepts deeply grieved men’s prayers for the sake of him; He releases them from their grieves.

As Allah the Most Great made His Beloved, Muhammad, the most valuable of men, He also rendered his honored Muslim community the most auspicious one out of the various communities of mankind.

To be the most auspicious community out of all peoples is due to the Messenger of Allah Muhammad who is the most valuable of all the Prophets.

In the holy verse:

“Honor belongs to Allah and His Messenger, and to the Believers.” (Munafiqun: 8)

This honor was given to him freely and his community receives honor because they follow him and his way.

Together with the companions of the Prophet who saw him, later in further centuries, Muslims followed him with great love and affection, and they kept and are keeping alive that deep love inside their hearts.

A hadith declares:

“After me some men will come; each one will be ready to sacrifice his family and wealth in order to be able to see me.”

Allah the Most High states that He Himself will ameliorate the conditions of the people who believe the truth descended to Muhammad -peace be upon him. He declares that He will better their hearts, take them from the depths of darkness into light.

In a holy verse of the Qur’an:

“A Messenger, who rehearses to you the signs of Allah containing clear explanations, that he may lead forth those who believe and do righteous deeds from the depths of darkness into Light.” (Talâq: 11)

History has shown the true and faithful Muslims embodied these qualities, and today they are available for anyone who follows Muhammad -peace be upon him.

Jesus -peace be upon him-, sent down to Children of Israel by Allah the Exalted, was a Messenger who was miraculously born. He was a word of Allah, the Exalted, and was supported by the holy spirit. He, by confirming Moses’ -peace be upon him- holy book, the Torah, came to teach the Torah and the Gospel. He incited his followers to comply with the servanthood towards Almighty Allah. Jesus -peace be upon him- was one of the distinguished and humble servants of Allah, the Exalted.

Allah, the Exalted, explains the true personality of Jesus -peace be upon him- in His holy verse:

“We gave Jesus, son of Mary, clear proofs and evidences.” (Baqara: 87)

Almighty Allah declared his superiority by his miracles.

“And we supported him with the holy spirit.” (Baqara: 87)

Allah, the Exalted, helped him with the holy spirit.

“We breathed into of Our spirit.” (Tahrim: 12)

Then, He taught sciences by the holy spirit and He has taken him up unto His presence when the Jews attempted to slay him.

Allah the Most High, since Adam -peace be upon him- chose among His believers, men charged with prophethood and apostleship; He elevated their degrees by granting virtues and various abilities.

In the past communities, there were people who really loved Allah the Most High; Allah the Most High also loved them and chose from among them Prophets, sincere and righteous men. About this, the Qur’an states:

“Allah did choose Adam and Noah, the family of Abraham, and the family of Imran above all people, offspring, one of the other: And Allah hears, and knows all things.” (Al’ Imran: 33-34)

In this noble verse, Adam -peace be upon him- and Noah -peace be upon him- are mentioned personally; Abraham -peace be upon him- and the family of Imran are mentioned as families.

In the above verse, moreover it is declared that prophets are offspring of one another. Although all humanities’ roots are from Adam -peace be upon him- and Noah -peace be upon him- by genealogy, men chosen and loved by Allah the Most High are united in a common heritage.

After the Flood, even though many prophets had been sent from out of the offspring of Noah -peace be upon him-, the number of pagans increased. Allah the Most High has sent a distinguished believer Abraham -peace be upon him. He has selected him as His friend. Then, successively again as prophets; He has sent his sons Ishmael -peace be upon him-, Isaac -peace be upon him-, his grandson Jacob -peace be upon him- and other grandchildren who succeeded.

The roots of the Family of Imran were based on the generation of Jacob -peace be upon him-, the son of Isaac -peace be upon him-, who was the son of Abraham -peace be upon him-. The title of Jacob -peace be upon him- was Israel and Jesus -peace be upon him- was the last prophet of Children of Israel. Whereas prophethood has ended with Muhammad -peace be upon him- whose lineage was of the other son of Abraham -peace be upon him- Ishmael -peace be upon him.

The family of Abraham and the family of Imran, together was related one from another by common ancestral ties.

The father of Mary, Imran, was one of the important personages and scholars of the Children of Israel. The prophet Zachariah -peace be upon him- and Imran, each married from two sisters. Imran’s wife Hanne had begun to grow old and she was barren. But the wife of Zachariah -peace be upon him- who was the sister of Hanne, had one. One day, Hanne saw a bird feeding its young. At that time, she so desired to have a son. She devoutly prayed with sincere intention to Allah the Most High to grant her a child.

Allah the Most High accepted her prayer. Hanne was very happy when she understood she was pregnant. As a thank to this great blessing, she dedicated her child to the Temple in Jerusalem.

She prayed as follows:

“Behold! A woman of Imran said:’ O my Lord! I do dedicate unto you what is in my womb for Your special service: So accept this of me: You alone are the Hearer, the Knower.” (Al’ Imran: 35)

At that time, dedicated children were serving for the temples. This service was lasting uninterruptedly until the age of adolescence. When one reached adolescence, he was free to go or to stay. It was not customary to dedicate girls.

When Hanne became pregnant and dedicated the baby to whom she would give birth, her husband Imran became anxious: “Why did you dedicate the baby without learning its sex? If the baby is a female how will you dedicate her?” he asked. After some time, though he died.

Finally contrary to her expectation, she gave birth to a girl.

Almighty Allah affirms this in the holy Qur’an:

“When she was delivered, she said: ‘O my Lord! Behold! I am delivered of a female child!’ -And Allah knew best what she brought forth- ‘And nowise is the male like the female. I have named her Mary, and I commend her and her offspring to Your protection from the Evil One, the rejected.” (Al’ Imran: 36)

Allah the Most High accepted this prayer of Hanne; He protected both her daughter and the child of her daughter from the evils and tricks of Satan.

Muhammad -peace be upon him- requires:

“Satan touches all men when their mothers give birth to them. But only Mary and her son Jesus are exceptional; Satan did not touch them.”

In the Hebrew language, Mary means a devoutly worshipping woman. Her mother had dedicated her in order to worship only Allah.

When Mary was born as an orphan; her mother brought her to the Temple and introduced to the scholars of Children of Israel. All of them wanted to take her into their custody because she was the daughter of Imran, who was in charge of Temple sacrifices. They began to dispute about this matter. Zachariah -peace be upon him- was the prophet of that epoch and one of the protectors of the Temple. “Because her maternal aunt married me, I merit being charged with the care of Mary.” he said. At last, they decided to cast lots because none of them would concede his claim. They went to the shore of a stream and taking their pens with which they wrote the Torah threw each into the water. Zachariah’s -peace be upon him- appeared on the surface but the others’ sank thus confirming Zachariah’s right to Mary’s maintain.

In the holy Qur’an, Almighty Allah describes the event:

“This is part of the tidings of the things unseen, which We reveal unto you (O Muhammad!) by inspiration: You were not with them when they cast lots with pens, as to which of them should be charged with the care of Mary: Nor were you with them when they disputed (the point).” (Al’ Imran: 44)

As a result of this Zachariah -peace be upon him- was charged with the care of Mary. After a while Hanne died and Mary grew up with her maternal aunt. When she became old enough to be able to look after herself, Zachariah -peace be upon him- built a chamber for her within the Temple. This chamber was called mihrap and nobody came in it except her.

Mary was continuously, day and night, worshipping and rendering service to the Temple for which she was responsible. In a short time, she matured and became an example of good morals, attitudes and righteousness.

The wish and prayer of Hanne had come to pass:

“Right graciously did her Lord accept her: He made her grow in purity and beauty: To the care of Zachariah was she assigned.” (Al’ Imran: 37)

Whenever Zachariah -peace be upon him- went into her chamber, he saw many different fresh fruits which did not grow at that region and which were out of season.

This subject is mentioned in the holy Qur’an as follows:

“Every time that he entered (her) chamber to see her, he found her supplied with sustenance. He said: ‘O Mary! Where comes this to you?’ She said: ‘From Allah: For Allah provides sustenance to whom He pleases, without measure.” (Al’ Imran: 37)

Mary was devoutly worshipping Allah the Most High so much that angels would address her with the following good news:

“Behold! The angels said: ‘O Mary! Allah has chosen you and purified you and preferred you above the women of all nations. (Al’ Imran: 42)

That, you were the center of divine manifestation because you gave birth to a noble child without father. None of women in the universe got such an honor.

“O Mary! Worship your Lord devoutly: Prostrate yourself, and bow down in prayer with those who bow down.” (Al’ Imran: 43)

One, who was preferred and honored by his Lord, gives thanks to Allah, the Exalted. And performing servanthood duties only fulfills this.

“Behold! The angels said: ‘O Mary! Allah gives you glad tidings of a word from Him: His name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honor in this world and the Hereafter and one of those who shall be brought near to Allah.” (Al’ Imran: 45)

Creations, which inspire meanings while perceiving the universe through eyes to heart under the effect of feelings, are called words.

Jesus -peace be upon him- was one of them. His creation is unordinary. Allah, the Exalted, will order “Be” and he will be.

“His name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary” (Al’ Imran: 45)

Allah, the Exalted, stated the name of the child “Jesus Christ” whom He gave his glad tidings. Believers mention him with this name. Christ (Messiah) is also a Word, that there are many secrets in this description.

“Held in honor in this world and the Hereafter and one of those who shall be brought near to Allah.” (Al’ Imran: 45)

His illustriousness in the world was the honor of his prophethood, his place in the heart of the believers and their great respect towards him. None of emperors had such a degree of esteem. His honor in the Hereafter is that he will be one of the nearest servants to Allah, the Exalted. There are many nearest servants to Him like Jesus -peace be upon him.

“He will speak to the people in the cradle and in maturity.” (Al’ Imran: 46)

He will speak unto mankind like a prophet in childhood and in his manhood. Without doubt, this is one of the greatest miracles. It is a must to recognize him as such a perfect human.

“And he shall be (of the company) of the righteous.” (Al’ Imran: 46)

He will have both genuine knowledge and genuine deed.

Our Master, the Messenger of Allah -peace be upon him- ordered about the virtue of Mary like that:

“The most blessed woman at her time was the daughter of Imran, Mary; the most blessed woman of our time is Khadija.”

Mary grew up in the special chamber of the Temple under the care of the prophet Zachariah -peace be upon him. No one was entering the chamber except she. Moreover, she was always keeping herself in seclusion. Her devotions were extremely sincere that she stood apart from all others.

Allah the Most High sent to her Gabriel -peace be upon him.

The holy Qur’an mentions the incident as follows:

“My Messenger! Relate in the Book (the story of) Mary when she withdrew from her family to a place in the East.” (Mary: 16)

She was lonely worshipping day and night by receding from her people to a chamber looking east.

“She placed a screen to seclude herself from them.” (Mary: 17)

She preferred a place to worship and placed a screen to seclude herself.

“Then We sent to her Our Spirit (Gabriel) and he appeared before her as a man in all respects.” (Mary: 17)

If Gabriel -peace be upon him- had appeared as an angel, she would have feared him and could not obey him.

When she suddenly saw him before her, she shivered. She was afraid of being harmed by him.

“She said: ‘I seek refuge from you in the Compassionate Allah: (come not near) If you do fear Allah.” (Mary: 18)

She reminded him Allah. For the devout, whenever hears the name of the Most Beneficent, abstain from doing evil.

Gabriel -peace be upon him- remembered her that she should be safe and tranquil. He explained he was not human but an ambassador sent by the Lord with Whom she sought refuge. He also stated that the cause of his arrival was to be the means to bestow a son on her.

And he said:

“No, I am only a messenger from your Lord, to announce to you the gift of a pure son.” (Mary: 19)

Mary, being amazed of this news, asked:

“How shall I have a son, seeing that no men has touched me, and I am not unchaste?” (Mary: 20)

I have no husband that I have a son, moreover I am not unchaste.

Gabriel -peace be upon him-, to remove fear from Mary and to calm her, related the truth:

“He said: ‘So it will be: Your Lord says, ‘That is easy for Me. And We wish to appoint him as a sign unto men and a mercy from Us’: It is a matter (so) decreed.” (Mary: 21)

It was decreed and written in the Book of Decrees. It will be, there is no way out.

“So it will be for Allah creates what He wills. When He has decreed something. He says to it only: “Be!” and it is.” (Al’ Imran: 47)

He creates however He wills. Whenever He wills something, that thing occurs without delay and means. Jesus -peace be upon him- was also such a word in the divine decree.

Allah, the Exalted, would take great care of him after his birth, too. The virtues also, which were granted to Jesus -peace be upon him- are mentioned in the holy verse:

“And He will teach him wisdom, the Torah and the Gospel. And will make him a messenger to the Children of Israel.” (Al’ Imran: 48-49)

Jesus -peace be upon him- was the last messenger of the Children of Israel.

Then, he breathed into the sleeve of her garment. At that moment, Virgin Mary became pregnant with Jesus -peace be upon him.

In the holy Qur’an Allah, the Exalted, states:

“And Mary, the daughter of Imran, who guarded her chastity is an example.” (Tahrim: 12)

The name of Mary is mentioned in the Holy Qur’an seven times, no other woman is mentioned by her name in it. Allah, the Exalted, displayed her outstanding degree as an example in comparison with all other women.

“We breathed therein of Our Spirit.” (Tahrim: 12)

Allah, the Exalted, in order to honor Jesus -peace be upon him-, attributed the spirit to Him.

“She testified to the truth of the words of her Lord and His Scriptures.” (Tahrim: 12)

Besides having faith in His words and Scriptures; by becoming pregnant with Jesus -peace be upon him- she confirmed the revelation which explains He is the Creator of whatever He wills.

“And she was one of the devout.” (Tahrim: 12)

“And (remember) her who guarded her chastity: We breathed into her of Our spirit, and We made her and her son a sign for all peoples.” (Anbiyaa: 91)

They are a great token for both mankind of their time and that of the future.

After some time, the signs of pregnancy began to appear. As a result of this she left the Temple and retired to a distant place.

The pregnancy and birth events are related in the noble verses as follows:

“So she conceived him, and she retired with him to a remote place.” (Mary: 22)

She withdrew with him to a far place because she was afraid of being blamed by her family for having a child while she was unmarried.

“And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm-tree.” (Mary: 23)

There was nobody to help her during the birth. Her pangs of childbirth forced her to drive unto the trunk of the palm-tree that she could lean against the tree during the birth.

“She said:

‘Ah! Would that I had been died before this! Would that I had been a thing forgotten and out of sight!’” (Mary: 23)

As stated in these holy verses, Mary was very grieved and worried, most of the time wishing for death. What would her position be when she was seen with a child in her arms? How would she answer the slanders and accusations?

A married woman writhes in pain during her first birth but she is never sad.

Mary, although she knew the good news by Gabriel -peace be upon him- about the honored son, she wished death as stated in the holy verse because she foresaw that she would be tested, blamed and her people would not believe her and judge justly.

“But (a voice) cried to her from beneath the (palm-tree): ‘Grieve not! For your Lord has provided a rivulet beneath you.

And shake towards yourself the trunk of the palm-tree: It will let fall fresh ripe dates upon you.

So eat and drink and cool eye. And if you do see any man, say: ‘I have vowed a fast to the Compassionate, and this day will I enter into no talk with any human being.” (Mary: 22-26)

When she was waiting to give birth with these thoughts, the grace of Allah the Most High arrived at her aid. A voice encouraged her not to be sad, that she should eat the dates, which would fall when she shook the trunk of a palm-tree. The voice said to her to drink water from the rivulet, which was coming from beneath her, and to be at ease. If she encountered a person accusing her of being pregnant without marriage, the voice recommended her not to answer but to say “I vowed to Allah a fast of silence, I will abstain from talk with any human being this day.” All of these events were gifts to her from Allah the Most High due to her devotion to Him.

When the time was over, Mary gave birth to the child. About the birth, Allah the Most High describes in the Qur’an:

“The similitude of Jesus before Allah is as that of Adam; He created him from dust, then said to him: ‘Be’: And he was.” (Al’ Imran: 59)

When Allah, the Exalted, willed to create Adam -peace be upon him-, He only said, “Be” and he was; on the other hand the creation of Jesus -peace be upon him- was also as the likeness of Adam -peace be upon him.

“(This is) the truth from your Lord, so be not of those who doubt.” (Al’ Imran: 60)

All the statements of Allah, the Exalted, are true. There is no truth save this. Every believer knows this and has faith in this.

“Lo! This verily is the true narrative. There is no God save Allah. And lo! Allah, He verily is, is the Mighty, the Wise.” (Al’ Imran: 62)

Nobody can be partner to Him in His Divinity.

“And if they turn away then surely, Allah is All-Aware of those who do mischief.” (Al’ Imran: 63)

He will punish them in the world and the Hereafter.

After the birth, Mary returned to her people together with the baby in her arms. When they saw Mary, who was known to be a virgin and unmarried, with a baby they were amazed. They started to accuse her thinking the worst.

How could this have happened? Her father Imran was one of the nobles, her family came of the lineage of Aaron -peace be upon him. Nobody could deny her sincerity to worship and her services in the Temple. Whereas she was silent, she pointed to the suckling baby wanting them to talk to the baby.

This event is stated in the holy Qur’an:

“At length she brought the baby to her people, carrying him in her arms.” (Mary: 27)

Whenever her own folk saw her carrying the baby, they got excited. They were talking enraged:

“They said:

‘O Mary! Truly an amazing thing have you brought!

O sister of Aaron! Your father was not a man of evil, nor your mother a woman unchaste!’” (Mary: 27-28)

How can a girl, whose parents are absolutely clean, have a son of fornication? Where have you found this child?

Mary did not respond. She pointed to the suckling baby wanting them to talk to the baby.

“But she pointed to the babe.” (Mary: 29)

They were amazed:

“They said: ‘How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle?’” (Mary: 29)

As a result of this, Jesus -peace be upon him- began to talk as a miracle; he stated, as the first word, that he was a slave of Allah.

“He said: ‘I am indeed a servant of Allah.” (Mary: 30)

I do not worship anybody but Allah.

“He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet.” (Mary: 30)

By these words, he mentioned the event which will occur as it has taken place. Because the decree, commanded in the past eternity by Allah, the Exalted, will absolutely occur.

“And He has made me blessed wheresoever I may be.” (Mary: 31)

He has created in me goodness, prosperity and abundance for mankind. He has made me achieve to teach men their religion. He has supported me with the holy spirit and miracles.

“And has enjoined on me prayer and charity as long as I live.” (Mary: 31)

As a strict order, He has enjoined on me regular prayers and giving zakat of wealth. When I will reach the age of puberty, I will perform regular prayers, give zakat of my wealth.

“And dutiful to my mother, and made me not arrogant, unblest.” (Mary: 32)

I, too, confess I am a servant of Him. I do obey His orders in order not to go astray.

“So peace is on me the day I was born, the day that I die, and the day that I shall be raised up to life.” (Mary: 33)

When Jesus -peace be upon him- talked like that, he was only a few days old and he did not talk again until he reached the age that children usually begin to speak.

The Israelites wanted to stone her imagining that she was guilty of adultery or fornication. But upon the speaking of the baby they released her.

Allah the Most High made Jesus -peace be upon him- and his mother as a sign for men, a clear and certain evidence of His support to someone if He wishes.

“And We made the son of Mary and his mother as a sign.” (Muminun: 50)

For, Jesus -peace be upon him- was created without seminal fluid. Allah, the Exalted, made both of them evidences that He is able to create whatever He wills.

“We gave them both shelter on high ground, affording rest and security and furnished with springs.” (Muminun: 50)

Because some harsh people of the time forced them, they went to this place explained in the noble verse. They emigrated that sacred land as a result of a divine order. Jesus -peace be upon him-, at that time, was very young. His childhood passed under the watchful eye of Allah the Most High and He strengthened him with wisdom and blessings.

Jesus -peace be upon him- was thirty when revelation began to come to him and his prophethood began.

Jesus -peace be upon him- was performing this invitation within the Jewish community. The Israelites had complicated and changed the rules and orders of the divine religion sent to Moses -peace be upon him; they had distorted the Torah. They strayed from the true path shown by the prophets. They also went away from the moral principles. They were denying the Day of Judgment, the torment, the account. They listened to their desires, they were plunged into their pleasures, their lusts.

As a result of this, Allah the Most High sent Jesus -peace be upon him- as a prophet to return them to the right path, to remove superstition and vain ideas inserted into the religion.

Jesus -peace be upon him- started delivering the orders and the prohibitions of Allah the Most High, teaching the true religion. Some of these orders were to make lawful to the Israelites certain things they were forbidden due to their transgression.

He was calling them to follow him, he was reminding them of Allah, the Day of Judgment, the account, the torment, he was trying to save them from their mixed false ideas.

It is stated in the holy verse as:

“When Jesus came with clear signs, he said:

‘Now have I come to you with wisdom.” (Zukhruf: 63)

I have brought you the orders, which are the necessity of divine wisdom.

“And in order to make clear to you some of the points on which you dispute: Therefore, fear Allah and obey me.

For Allah, He is my Lord and your Lord; so worship you Him, this is a Straight Way.” (Zukhruf: 64)

I am charged to warn you and remove the points in which you differ.

But the Jews did not believe in him, they did not accept this invitation. They tried to defend the distorted Torah.

Allah, the Exalted, declares that He sent Noah and Abraham -peace be upon them- and the prophethood has been placed in their offspring. Then, it is stated that other prophets and Jesus -peace be upon him- have been sent:

“And We verily sent Noah and Abraham and placed the prophethood and the scripture among their seed.” (Al-Hadid: 26)

All the prophets, who were given holy books, were from the offspring of Noah and Abraham -peace be upon them.

“And among them there is he who goes right, but many of them are evil-livers.” (Al-Hadid: 26)

Whereas there were some devout men among the seed of these prophets, most of their generation went astray by abusing their capabilities.

In each epoch, those who accepted the guidance were the smaller in number; on the other hand the majority was those who preferred going astray.

“Then We sent after them in their footsteps Our messengers.” (Al-Hadid: 27)

The prophets of the Children of Israel, after Moses -peace be upon him-, were included to them.

“And we caused Jesus, son of Mary, to follow and gave him the Gospel.” (Al-Hadid: 27)

Almighty Allah sent down the Gospel in which glad tidings of the advent of Muhammad -peace be upon him- existed.

“And placed compassion and mercy in the hearts of those who followed him.” (Al-Hadid: 27)

Because Jesus -peace be upon him- was very kind and compassionate, those who followed him also have behaved mildly and compassionately towards creatures. This is the praise by Allah, the Exalted, for them because of their mutual love amongst themselves.

“But the monasticism which they invented for themselves, We did not prescribe for them, but they sought it only to please Allah therewith, but that they did not observe it with the right observance.” (Al-Hadid: 27)

They invented monasticism in Allah’s religion whereas He has not ordained it. Although they, themselves, instituted a new rule seeking Allah’s pleasure, they did not comply with it, they went back on their word and they were corrupted.

“So We give those of them who believe their reward.” (Al-Hadid: 27)

We bestowed blessings on those who accepted the prophethood of Muhammad -peace be upon him- whose arrival was informed by Jesus -peace be upon him.

“But many of them are rebellious, evil-livers.” (Al-Hadid: 27)

Many of the Christians were disobedient to Allah and rejected the prophethood of Muhammad -peace be upon him-, the last Messenger.

“And in their footsteps, We sent Jesus, son of Mary, confirming the Torah that had come before him.” (Maida: 46)

In reality, the Gospel confirmed whatever was revealed in the Torah. It was based, other than some little differences, on the commands of the Torah.

“And We bestowed on him the Gospel wherein is guidance and a light, confirming that which was before it in the Torah, a guidance and an admonition unto those who ward off.” (Maida: 46)

The coming of the Gospel is the confirmation of the Torah, it was not sent down to differ from the Torah. Allah, the Exalted, bestowed the Gospel as a guidance, counsel and warning.

The Israelites, in order to cause problems, wanted miracles proving his prophethood. Allah the Most Great granted great miracles to His prophet Jesus -peace be upon him- to affirm his prophethood.

Jesus -peace be upon him- presented himself and proclaimed his prophetic office to the Israelites as follows:

“I have come to you, with a sign from your Lord.” (Al’ Imran: 49)

Look! The miracles proving my righteousness are as follows:

“In that I make for you out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, and breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by Allah’s leave.” (Al’ Imran: 49)

One of the miracles of Jesus -peace be upon him- was that he designed out of clay the likeness of a bird, he breathed into it and it was a living bird by Allah’s leave.

He worked this miracle, in order for the Children of Israel to have faith in him and give up disbelief.

“And I heal those born blind and the lepers.” (Al’ Imran: 49)

In that century medical science was very advanced. Allah, the Exalted, had granted miracles to Jesus -peace be upon him- of this nature.

For example, when he stroked a blind man’s eyes, by Allah’s permission, he started seeing. He healed a leper by touching him by Allah’s leave. Although the medical science was advanced, that time’s doctors were not able to cure such diseases.

“And I quicken the dead by Allah’s leave.” (Al’ Imran: 49)

Not by my own capacity, but only by the permission and will of my Lord, I can raise the dead. The power of creation belongs only to Him.

He revived the dead by calling out to them or by touching them.

In front of the Jews, he revived four dead men with the permission and the decree of Allah. One of these men was his friend who had died three days earlier. They went to his grave. When he ordered “Stand up by Allah’s leave, the grave was opened and the man stood shaking from himself soil. Another man was revived by Jesus’ entreaty -peace be upon him- to Allah the Most High and began speaking while he was carried to his grave. As for the third he was a man who died one day previously. Those men, after their revivals, went on living for some time.

Many Jews had not been satisfied yet. They said about these revived men “May be, they had not died, you did not revive them.” They asked him to revive a man who had died many centuries ago; for example Sham, the son of Noah -peace be upon him: By the permission of Allah, he also revived him. Sham bore witness to the prophethood of Jesus -peace be upon him- then he again died.

“And I declare to you what you eat, and what you store in your houses.” (Al’ Imran: 49)

Other than these miracles, Jesus -peace be upon him- was saying one by one what each of the Jews ate, drank and what they stored up in their houses.

He went to many places showing these miracles.

“Surely therein is a sign for you if you did believe.” (Al’ Imran: 49)

If you have the intention to accept the truth, these miracles are enough to confirm that Allah, the Exalted, has sent me as prophet.

“(I have come to you) to attest the Law which was before me. And to make lawful to you part of what was (before) forbidden to you.” (Al’ Imran: 50)

His prophethood was based on making lawful some things which had been forbidden unto the Children of Israel by Allah and confirming the Torah as a whole. This means that if they obey Allah and him, their hardships will be diminished.

“I have come to you with a sign from your Lord.” (Al’ Imran: 50)

These are the miracles that have been granted on me by Allah. They prove the truthfulness of my words.

“So fear Allah, and obey me.” (Al’ Imran: 50)

Surrender to Al-Hakk (Allah) and the truth if you are those who realize, in order that you can reach salvation in the world and in the Hereafter.

“It is Allah who is my Lord and your Lord.” (Al’ Imran: 51)

There is no lord but Him, there is no god but Him. Do not assign partner to Him.

“Then worship Him.” (Al’ Imran: 51)

Be servant to Him. Obey His orders and prohibitions.

“This is a way that is straight.” (Al’ Imran: 51)

This straight way heads to Heaven.

Jesus -peace be upon him- had twelve students and sincere companions called Disciples. They had faith in Jesus’ -peace be upon him- prophethood and showed loyalty to him as the companions of the Messenger of Allah, Muhammad -peace be upon him- did unto him.

The Israelites did not believe in him; moreover they began to act stubbornly in their unbelief. On the other hand, the Disciples revealed their faith with courage, they supported Jesus -peace be upon him.

Allah the Most High has mentioned and praised them in the holy Qur’an:

“When Jesus found unbelief on their part;

He said: ‘Who will be my helpers in the cause of Allah?” (Al’ Imran: 52)

Jesus -peace be upon him- looked for the helpers who believed in Allah, who surrendered unto Al-Hakk and who sought only Allah’s pleasure.

“Said the Disciples: ‘We are Allah’s helpers: We believe in Allah, and bear witness that we are Muslims?” (Al’ Imran: 52)

The Disciples said they would submit to the orders of Jesus -peace be upon him- in order the religion to be victorious, and declared their sincere faith in Allah, the Exalted:

“Our Lord! We believe in what You have revealed and we follow the Messenger; then write us down among those who bear witness.” (Al’ Imran: 53)

In reality, the faith of the Disciples was the result of Allah’s inspiration in their hearts.

He instructs in the holy verse:

“And behold! I inspired the Disciples to have faith in Me and My Messenger; they said, ‘We have faith, and do you bear witness that we bow to Allah as Muslims.” (Maida: 111)

By addressing to the community of Muhammad -peace be upon him-, Allah the Exalted shows them the Disciples as an example because of their virtues:

“O you who believe! Be you helpers of Allah!” (Saff: 14)

To be the helper of Allah is the most exalted position for a servant.

“As said Jesus the son of Mary to the Disciples, ‘Who will be my helpers in the cause of Allah?” (Saff: 14)

“Said the Disciples, ‘We are Allah’s helpers.” (Saff: 14)

Be the helpers of Allah. O believers! Be the helpers of Allah as the Disciples of Jesus -peace be upon him- by accepting the invitation of the Prophet.

Before, the Disciples were rich, noble and they had good positions in society. When they became followers of Jesus -peace be upon him-, by his instruction, they continued to live by their own earnings.

After Jesus -peace be upon him- was raised to the heavens, these Disciples preserved and taught his testament; in the course of time, they one by one died as martyrs.

While mentioning the blessings granted to Jesus -peace be upon him- and his mother Mary; Allah, the Exalted, declares the divine gifts bestowed on the Apostles who were his first believers and supporters:

“Behold! The Disciples said: ‘O Jesus the son of Mary! Can your Lord send down to us a table set from heaven?” (Maidaa: 112)

The Disciples saw Jesus -peace be upon him- as a man and a slave of Almighty Allah. They never considered their Messenger “god” or “the son of Allah.”

“Said Jesus: ‘Fear Allah, if you have faith.” (Maidaa: 112)

He invited them to comprehension. He reminded them that they should fear Allah.

“They said: ‘We only wish to eat thereof and satisfy our hearts and to know that you have indeed told us the truth; and that we ourselves may be witnesses to the miracle.” (Maidaa: 113)

The Apostles sincerely apologized by explaining their aim.

“Said Jesus the son of Mary: ‘O Allah! Our Lord! Send us from heaven a table set, that there may be for us, for the first and the last of us, a solemn festival and a sign from You.” (Maidaa: 114)

Jesus -peace be upon him- entreated twice in order to display his loyalty to Him; with both the divine attributes “Allah” and “Lord”. He wished the day, when the table sent down, to be a feast for his community in his time and for believers who would come after him.

“Give us sustenance, for You are the best of sustainers.” (Maidaa: 114)

Because, Allah the Exalted is both the Creator of sustenance and its Sustainer without asking any fee.

Allah, Exalted and Glorified, accepted the supplication of Jesus -peace be upon him- with a dignity suitable to His Person.

“Allah said: ‘I will send it down unto you: But if any of you after that resists faith, I will punish him with a penalty such as I have not inflicted on anyone among all the peoples.” (Maidaa: 115)

Almighty Allah’s law for those who disbelieve after witnessing miracles, which they themselves wanted, is to inflict punishment.

Jesus -peace be upon him-, when he was alive, was sending apostles from among his Disciples to different regions to announce his religion.

As stated in the Sura (chapter) Yâ-Sin of the holy Qur’an, he had sent two of his Disciples to the people of Antioch to invite them to Monotheism. But when the people of that region mocked at them and used violence, he sent one more Disciple.

Allah the Most High states in the noble verse:

“When We (first) sent to them two apostles, they rejected them:

But We strengthened them with a third: They said, ‘Truly, we have been sent on a mission to you.” (Yâ-Sin: 14)

The people of Antioch repudiated, even decided to kill them. From the uttermost part of the city, a believer called Habib-i Neccar came running and encouraged his people to follow these sent apostles. He has advised them:

“Then there came running, from the farthest part of the city, a man, saying, ‘O my people! Obey the apostles:

Obey those who ask no reward of you (for themselves), and who have themselves received Guidance.

It would not be reasonable in me if I did not serve Him who created me, and to whom you shall (all) be brought back.

Shall I take (other) gods besides Him? If God Most Gracious should intend some adversity for me, of no use whatever will be their intercession for me, nor can they deliver me.

I would indeed, if I were to do so, be in manifest error.

For me, I have faith in the Lord of you (all): Listen, then, to me!” (Yâ-Sin: 20-25)

After these words, his people attacked him. They stoned and trod him under foot. He died saying “My Allah! Guide my people.”

When he died as martyr, Allah the Most Supreme ordered him to enter the Garden. Seeing rewards and blessings in heaven, he wished his people could know his position; he has said:

“It was said: ‘Enter you the Garden. He said: ‘Ah me! Would that my people knew (what I know)!

For that my Lord has granted me forgiveness and has enrolled me among those held in honor!” (Yâ-Sin: 26-27)

Allah the Most High punished those people for denying the prophet and killing his apostle. They were perished with a single mighty Blast.

In the holy verses:

“And We sent not down against his people, after him, any hosts from heaven, nor was it needful for Us so to do.

It was no more than a single mighty Blast, and behold! They were (like ashes) quenched and silent.” (Yâ-Sin: 28-29)

The Israelites were under the yoke of Rome. Although they witnessed the splendid miracles of Jesus -peace be upon him-, they did not accept his invitation. They were awaiting a savior messiah. They believed that this messiah would be a fighter and cause the Jews to dominate the world by saving them from the suppression of other peoples. Because they saw Jesus -peace be upon him- so kind and tender, they did not consider him as the messiah. They denied him, moreover they tried to prevent people from being his followers. But they did not succeed. They decided to kill Jesus -peace be upon him- like John the Baptist -peace be upon him.

One of them pretended to have belief and joined the Disciples. In order to attack them, they wanted to learn where and when they were coming together.

But they were caught in their own snares, their plotting of evil failed.

Allah, the Exalted, states in His holy verse:

“And they (the unbelievers) plotted and planned, and Allah too planned, and the best of planners is Allah.” (Al’ Imran: 54)

Allah the Most High informed His servant and Prophet Jesus -peace be upon him- by inspiration:

“Behold! Allah said: ‘O Jesus! I will take you and raise you to Myself and clear you (of the falsehoods) of those who blaspheme; I will make those who follow you superior to those who reject faith, to the Day of Resurrection: Then shall you all return unto Me, and I will judge between you of the matters wherein you dispute.

As to those who reject faith, I will punish them with terrible agony in this world and in the Hereafter, nor will they have anyone to help.” (Al’ Imran: 55-56)

Allah the Most Great raised Jesus -peace be upon him- up to the heavens as He did Idris -peace be upon him. The informer sent by the Jews was mistakenly caught and crucified supposing that they captured Jesus -peace be upon him.

Allah the Most High, who knows everything manifest or hidden, states in His holy verses:

“That they rejected faith; that they uttered against Mary a grave false charge.

That they said (in boast), ‘We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah’; but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:

No, Allah raised him up unto Himself; and Allah is exalted in Power, Wise.” (Nisaa: 156-157-158)

After the ascension of Jesus -peace be upon him, the Disciples according to the testament of Jesus -peace be upon him- scattered his religion. The number of the believers increased. However by the time the Christians, like the Jews, have also strayed and divided.

The Jews have slandered Jesus -peace be upon him- for being without a father and said that he was a child of fornication. Some Christians have said he was “God”, others have claimed he was “the son of God.” Some others have said he was “one in three”.

The holy Qur’an clarifies the true nature of faith. Allah the Most High rejects all these false and untrue beliefs and declarations of the People of the Book (the Jews and the Christians) about Jesus -peace be upon him. He declares that neither Jesus -peace be upon him- nor the angels will disdain to be servants of Allah:

“O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was no more than a Messenger of Allah, and His word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit from Him: So believe in Allah and His Messenger. Say not ‘Trinity’: Desist: It will be better for you: For Allah is One God: Glory be to Him: Far Exalted is He above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.

Christ disdains not to serve and worship Allah, nor do the angels, those nearest to Allah: Those who disdain His worship and are arrogant, He will gather them all together unto Himself to answer.” (Nisaa: 171-172)

In another verse He states:

“He was no more than a servant: We granted Our favor to him, and We made him an example to the Children of Israel.” (Zukhruf: 59)

Jesus -peace be upon him- was a man and a prophet sent by Allah to guide people to the right way. His prophetic mission consisted of inviting people to the Unity and Oneness of Allah and to worship only Him.

Allah the Most High refutes with clear signs the ascription of Divinity by the Christians to him and his mother Mary.

He orders in the holy verse:

“Christ the son of Mary was no more than a Messenger; many were the Messengers that passed away before him. His mother was a woman of truth. They had both to eat their daily food. See how Allah does make His signs clear to them; yet see in what ways they are deluded away from the truth!” (Mâida: 75)

In the holy Qur’an, it is often stated that Allah the Most High is exalted above having a son:

“They say: ‘Allah has begotten a son’: Glory be to Him. No, to Him belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth: Everything renders worship to Him.” (Baqara: 116)

It is impossible to think that Allah, the Exalted, has taken unto Himself a son, for nothing resembles Him. He is the only One Creator.

“They say, ‘Allah has begotten a son!’ Glory be to Him! He is Self- Sufficient! His are all things in the heavens and on earth! No warrant have you for this! Say you about Allah what you know not?” (Yunus: 68)

Allah, the Exalted, is far away of their slanders! Since neither does He declare he has begotten a son nor is there a statement meaning it; they fabricate a disgusting lie and a bad surmise against Him.

“Say: ‘Those who invent a lie against Allah will never prosper.” (Yunus: 69)

They will not be safe from their fears and not reach their hopes and they will be driven to Hell, not Heaven.

“Behold! How they invent a lie against Allah! But that by itself is a manifest sin!” (Nisâa: 50)

Even they will have no other sin except it, it will be enough to surpass all other sins.

“He to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth: No son has He begotten, nor has He a partner in His dominion: It is He Who created all things, and ordered them in due proportions.” (Furqan: 2)

Everything is under His Omnipotence hand. Everything has a limit that a servant can never exceed it. On the other hand, there is no end and limit to His Omnipotence. Because of this, nothing can be partner to Him by surpassing the limits of creation.

“The Jews call Uzair a son of Allah.” (Tauba: 30)

By this perverted word, they prepared the ground for the Christians to utter “Messiah is the son of Allah.”

“And the Christians call Christ the son of Allah.” (Tauba: 30)

At first, even though some of the Christians uttered it, after a while all of them began saying this and they accuse as disbeliever those who do not accept it.

“That is a saying from their mouths; in this they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say.” (Tauba: 30)

They are from the People of the Book but they are like polytheists and are considered as polytheist.

Allah’s curse be on them: How they are deluded away from the Truth!” (Tauba: 30)

Because of these slanders, they are subjected to the divine wrath of Allah the Most High:

“They say: ‘The Beneficent has begotten a son!’” (Mary: 88)

This is a claim without any evidence.

Due to this, Allah, the Exalted, ordains as follows:

“Indeed you have put forth a thing most monstrous!” (Mary: 89)

You have assuredly uttered a disastrous thing.

“At it the skies are ready to burst, the earth to split asunder, and the mountains to fall down in utter ruin.

That they should invoke a son for Most Gracious.” (Mary: 90-91)

The universe, as a whole, grows angry because of these words uttered against Allah, the Exalted. The respect of the universe and of whatever it includes towards Him leads the universe to become angry. Because the universe has been created on the basis of Allah’s Unity.

“For it is not consonant with the majesty of Most Gracious that He should beget a son.” (Mary: 92)

They have not understood the difference between creating and reproducing.

Jesus -peace be upon him- declared at the very outset that he was a man, thus negating the false notion that he was God or the son of God, and:

“He said: ‘I am indeed a servant of Allah.” (Mary: 30)

He did not say, “Worship me as God” but:

“Verily Allah is my Lord and your Lord: Him therefore serve you: This is a Way that is straight.” (Mary: 36)

Allah the Most High announces the grievous result of the doctrine of Trinity that ruins the creed of Unity and Monotheism. Jesus -peace be upon him- will come face to face with people worshipping two other gods in derogation of Allah and these people, who slander Allah and His Prophet will be terribly punished.

The conversation that will take place between Allah the Most Supreme and Jesus -peace be upon him- is stated in the holy Qur’an:

“And behold! Allah will say: ‘O Jesus, the son of Mary! Did you say unto men, worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of Allah?’ He will say: ‘Glory to you! Never could I say what I had no right to say. Had I said such a thing, you would indeed have known it. You know what is in my hearth, though I know not what is in Yours. For you know in full all that is hidden.

Never said I to them aught except what you did command me to say, to wit, ‘Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord’; and I was a witness over them while I dwelt amongst them, when you did take me up you was the Watcher over them, and you are a witness to all things.

If You do punish them, they are Your servants: If You do forgive them, You are the Exalted in power, the Wise.” (Maida: 116-118)

As the Jews, the Christians also did not keep their promises; until the Day of Judgment they will be estranged with enmity and hatred between one another.

When Muhammad -peace be upon him- was sent as a Prophet, he has revealed things that the People of the Book used to hide. However, the Jews and the Christians, by considering themselves “the sons and beloved of Allah”, have denied and repudiated his invitation to the last religion. About this matter, it is stated in the holy Qur’an:

“From those, too, who call themselves Christians, we did take a Covenant, but they forgot a good part of the Message that was sent them: So We estranged them, with enmity and hatred between the one and the other, to the Day of Judgment. And soon will Allah show them what it is they have done.

O People of the Book! There has come to you our Messenger, revealing to you much that you used to hide in the Book, and passing over much (that is now unnecessary): There has come to you from Allah a new light and a perspicuous book.

Wherewith Allah guides all who seek His good pleasure to ways of peace and safety, and leads them out of darkness, by His will, unto the light, guides them to a path that is straight.

In blasphemy indeed are those that say that Allah is Christ, the son of Mary. Say: ‘Who then has the least power against Allah, if His will were to destroy Christ the son of Mary, his mother, and all everyone that is on the earth? For to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between. He creates what He pleases. For Allah has power over all things.

The Jews and the Christians say: ‘We are sons of Allah, and His beloved.’ Say: ‘Why then does He punish you for your sins? No, you are but men, of the men He has created: He forgives whom He pleases and He punishes whom He pleases: And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between: And unto Him is the final goal (of all)” (Maida: 14-18)

The People of the Book were not satisfied with saying Jesus was “the son of God”, they have also claimed “the son of Mary is Lord” and moreover they have made their rabbis and their monks as lords besides Allah. This subject is stated in the holy verse like that:

“They take their priests and their anchorites to be their lords in derogation of Allah, and (they take as their Lord) Christ, the son of Mary; yet, they were commanded to worship but One Allah: There is no god but He. Praise and glory to Him: (Far is He) from having the partners they associate (with Him).” (Tauba: 31)

They did not obey this order, they have strayed and they have given companions and partners to Allah.

Whereas Jesus -peace be upon him- has told them:

“They do blaspheme who say: ‘Allah is Christ, the son of Mary’ but said Christ: ‘O Children of Israel! Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord.’ Whoever joins other gods with Allah, Allah will forbid him the Garden, and the Fire will be his abode. There will for the wrong-doers be no one to help.” (Mâida: 72)

Our Master, the Messenger of Allah Muhammad -peace be upon him- has explained the meaning of the noble verse: “They take their priests and their anchorites to be their lords in derogation of Allah”:

When he was Christian, Adiy, the son of Hâtim, had arrived to Medina to learn about Islam. He asked some questions to the Messenger of Allah in order to answer his suspicions. “This verse blames us for taking our priests and anchorites as our lords. Whereas, we do not take them to be our lords. What is the meaning of this?” he asked.

The Messenger of Allah asked “They prohibited lawful and made legal things illegal. Did not you accept and approve of this?” Adiy confirmed: “Yes, we did.” The Messenger of Allah stated:

“Look, by doing so you really worshipped them.”

This hadith shows us that people take their souls as their lords when they do not take into account the Book of Allah and when they prohibit lawful and make the prohibited lawful. Followers of those men also take them to be their lords, as the hadith explains. Even they say “We have faith in Allah”, this is only a claim, which is not true.

To believe that Allah the Most High gave the Torah to Moses -peace be upon him- and the Gospel to Jesus -peace be upon him- is among the fundamental principles of faith in Islam. These books were sources of light and guidance when they were sent down. During the centuries they guided people.

However, by time, they were corrupted, men have changed many meanings from them. By the coming of the Gospel the orders of the Torah and by the coming of the holy Qur’an the orders of the Gospel have lost their validity; thus Allah has abrogated both with the advent of Muhammad -peace be upon him- and the revelation of the holy Qur’an.

Allah the Most Great declares that He will assuredly guard the holy Qur’an from any corruption.

Islam is the religion of monotheism. The People of the Book, on the other hand, have separated from the monotheistic creed; they have strayed from the true way of Allah. To save them from this false way guiding to Hell, Allah the Most High orders His Prophet Muhammad -may Allah commend and salute him- to invite them to the unity of one True God: Allah;

“Say: ‘O People of the Book! Come to common terms as between us and you: That we worship none but Allah; that we associate no partners with Him; that we erect not, from among ourselves, Lords and patrons other than Allah.’ If then they turn back, say you: “Bear witness that we (at least) are Muslims (bowing to Allah’s will.)” (Al’ Imran: 64)

“If only the People of the Book had believed and been righteous, We should indeed have blotted out their iniquities and admitted them to Gardens of Bliss.” (Mâida: 65)

In the holy verse it is commanded:

“Strongest among men in enmity to the Believers will you find the Jews and pagans.” (Maidaa: 82)

The Jews and pagans are the strongest in enmity to the believers. As stated in the holy Qur’an, the Jews and pagans are far from the faith and they are the people who strayed. They are very greedy of the worldly life and of its interests. They are hard-hearted and merciless. Mischief and malice are their characteristic attributes. They are the ones who are full of pride against the Lord.

The holy Qur’an proclaims that among the religions Christianity is the nearest in love to Islam:

“Nearest among them in love to the believers will you find those who say, ‘We are Christians’” (Maidaa: 82)

Although the Christians are disbelievers and even they are the enemies of the Muslims; there are among them men inclined to have faith by repentance.

“That is because there are among them priests and monks and because they are not proud.” (Maidaa: 82)

Because the Christians are serious-minded, they are humble and they are not arrogant like the Jews.

The holy Qur’an finds the Christians more moderate with regard to the Jews. Islam rejects the ascription of Divinity to Jesus -peace be upon him- by the Christians, also the claims of the crucifixion and the doctrine of the Trinity. But again Islam proclaims that among the religions Christianity is the nearest in love to Islam.
